Update: 32-year-old woman charged in fatal pedestrian hit and run in Gwinnett County

Update

Gwinnett County Police Department reported that the alleged driver in Saturday’s hit and run pedestrian fatality was arrested and the vehicle recovered at 745 Beaver Ruin Road. The vehicle had damage consistent to the incident. The driver was arrested when she was reportedly on her way to turn herself in.

Brittany Amber Ashley, 32, of Stone Mountain is charged with one count of hit and run (death) and one count of homicide by vehicle. She is currently being held at the Gwinnett County Detention Center without bond.

Initial Story

(Norcross, Georgia) Gwinnett Police are seeking the public’s help in located a vehicle and driver involved in a fatal hit and run collision that happened sometime before midnight on July 20, 2019, in the 1300 block of Beaver Ruin Road in unincorporated Norcross. A caller reported that a male was lying in the road and appeared to have been struck by a vehicle. Officers arrived to find the man unresponsive. He was transported to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries. He has been identified as Kevin Brown, 38, of Norcross.

Investigators from the Accident Investigation Unit have determined that the victim appeared to have been struck by a vehicle while crossing the road and the driver fled the scene without calling 9-1-1- to report the collision. From evidence gathered at the scene, investigators believe that the vehicle involved was a 2013-2015 Nissan Sentra (unknown color).  The vehicle will have a missing front grill and also likely damage in the area of the front bumper, hood, and windshield. The vehicle pictured below is not the actual vehicle.
