Update: 34-year-old Loganville man injured in wreck on Youth-Monroe Road


A Loganville man was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center on Monday morning after being injured in a wreck on Youth Monroe Road, near Highway 81, at about 8:40 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 25, 2017.

According to Trooper First Class Cal Barton with Georgia State Patrol, Jerry Towler, 34, of Loganville, was hit from behind while traveling on Youth Monroe Road in his 1995 Chevy truck. Barton said Towler was slowing to make a right turn into Youth Mobile Home Park when he was struck by a 2005 Ford Explorer, driven by Brandy Griffin, 31, of Monroe. Griffin had two young passengers in the vehicle with her. Neither she nor the children were injured.

“After being struck, the truck went off the shoulder of the road and struck a brick mailbox,” Barton said. “Towler was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center with serious, but not life threatening, injuries. Griffin was cited for following too closely.”

Walton County Fire Rescue report that personnel responded at 8:39 a.m. on Monday morning to a two-vehicle motor vehicle accident involving a full size pickup truck and an SUV with several small children on board. The accident happened on Youth-Monroe Road near Highway 81 and resulted in a serious injury to the driver of the pickup truck, who was transported by EMS to Gwinnett Medical Center. Battalion Chief Craig League said the driver and small children in the SUV were checked for minor injuries by EMS on the scene, but were not transported.
