Update: Victim in Jan. 3 pedestrian fatality identified as 37-year-old Loganville woman


Officials with the City of Loganville report that the pedestrian struck and killed this evening on Highway 78 has been identified as Delta Dawn Wilbanks, 37, of Loganville.

“While the incident remains an active investigation, the (Loganville Police Department) Accident Investigation Unit has indicated that the pedestrian struck was reportedly not in a crosswalk and at this time no charges are expected to be filed against the driver,” said Robbie Schwartz, public information officer with the City of Loganville.

He indicated at 7:50 p.m. that the road should be completely opened back up within 10 to 15 minutes.

Officials with the City of Loganville are reporting that Highway 78 has been shut down (in front of Burger King) due to a fatal pedestrian accident. The report came in at around 6:30 p.m.

Details on when the road will reopen will be given as soon as any updates are received.
