Update: 49-year-old Monroe man arrested in connection with Dollar General robbery

Walton County Sheriff’s Office reported that Stacy Pope, 49, of a Monroe address, has been arrested and charged with armed robbery in connection with Thursday night’s robbery at the Dollar General on Highway 138.

“This arrest comes as a result of a group of deputies who work hard and never quit,” WCSO wrote on its Facebook page.

Walton County Sheriff’s Office reports that the Dollar General store on Highway 138 near H.D. Atha Road was robbed Thursday night. The incident happened at about 8 p.m. by what officials believe was a single perpetrator.

“A lone black male entered the store and made off with $350 cash and multiple packs of cigarettes. The suspect fled on foot. No one was injured,” Maj. Scott Whisnant said.
