Update: 21-year-old Loganville woman dies in early morning wreck Friday


62-year-old Monroe woman critically injured 

Georgia State Patrol confirmed that a 21-year-old Loganville woman died and a 62-year-old Monroe woman sustained critical injuries in an early morning wreck on Highway 81 Friday morning. Arlana Arianna Herron, 21, of Loganville was pronounced dead at the scene and Joyce Purvis, 62, was lifeflighted to Atlanta Medical Center where she remains in a critical condition. Herron’s next-of-kin have been notified.

GSP Trooper FC Sgt. James Buchanan reports that the 2010 Honda Civic driven by Herron failed to maintain its northbound lane on Highway 81 north, crossing over onto the southbound lane and striking the passenger side of the Honda Accord driven by Purvis.

Initial Story

Walton County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that Highway 81 in Walton County is shut down between Watson Fain Road and Ozora Church Road for a serious accident. Expect delays for at least the next hour or possibly longer.

Walton County Fire Rescue Assistant Chief Craig League reports that crews are on the scene the 2 vehicle accident with serious injuries involved. Multiple emergency personnel and units on scene. Lifeflight was called in for one patient. Georgia State Patrol is working the accident.
