“For unknown reasons, vehicle 1 traveled into the northbound lane, striking vehicle 2 and vehicle 3. Area of impact was in the northbound lane of Youth Jersey Road,” Barton said. “After impact, all persons were ejected from their respective dirt bikes.”
Barton said Guzman and Brownlee were transported to Gwinnett Medical Center by Walton EMS with serious injuries. Luis Gomez, 22, died at the scene and Juan Gomez, 15, was transported to Piedmont Athens Medical Center with serious injuries.
The accident shut Youth Jersey down for several hours early Sunday morning. Barton said no helmet or protective gear was worn by any of the drivers. He said alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in this crash. Charges, however, are pending.
