Update:
According to information from Walton County Sheriff’s Office, Carole Ann Etheridge, 49, was arrested and charged with one count of driving under the influence and 16 counts of endangering a child, DUI. Bond was set at $3,042 for the DUI charge and $1,420 for each of the child endangerment charges. She was booked into the jail at 1:30 p.m. on Monday and bonded out that same afternoon. WCSO said the case is still under investigation.
Update
A spokesperson for Walton County Public Schools confirmed that the bus driver charged with driving under the influence on Monday is no longer employed with the school.
“I can confirm that the driver is no longer driving and has been terminated from WCSD,” Callen Moore, Public Relations Officer with WCSD, said.
Interim Sheriff Keith Brooks with Walton County Sheriff’s Office said that Carole Ann Etheridge was arrested Monday and charged with DUI. She has since bonded out. He said WCSO is currently working with the school board to finalize the number of counts of child endangerment with which she will be charged. He said the report came from an employee with Loganville Middle School on Monday and deputies followed up. Etheridge was subsequently arrested. WCSO shared a photograph of the bottles of alcohol that were located and entered into evidence in connection with the case.

The Walton County Sheriff’s Office reports that a Walton County school bus driver was arrested Monday and has been charged with driving under the influence and with 16 counts of endangerment of a child. (Please note an arrest and charge does not constitute a conviction)
Walton County Interim Sheriff Keith Brooks said WCSO received a report from a school on Bay Creek Church Road and deputies followed up. He said Carole Ann Etheridge was subsequently arrested and charged. Brooks said the investigation is still underway. He was not sure from which school on Bay Creek Church Road the report had come.
