UPDATE: Car seat safety checks CANCELLED for Dec. 5 at the Monroe-Walton Library

UPDATE: Due to the potential for inclement weather, the car seat safety check at the Monroe-Walton Library hosted by Piedmont Walton has been cancelled and will be rescheduled for another date. Anybody who would still like an individual car seat inspected and properly installed can Heather Johnson at heather.johnson@dph.ga.gov or call 770-876-4387.

Monroe, Ga. (Dec. 2, 2025) – Piedmont Walton Hospital will host a free car seat safety check on Friday, Dec. 5, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Monroe Walton Library, located at 217 West Spring St., Monroe, GA.

Certified technicians will be on-site to inspect car seats and ensure they are properly installed to keep children safe. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to bring their vehicles and car seats for a thorough check.

“Car seats save lives, but only when they’re used correctly,” said Lisa Thomas, injury prevention coordinator at Piedmont Walton Hospital. “Our goal is to give families peace of mind by making sure their children are as safe as possible on the road.”

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, three out of four car seats are installed incorrectly, which can increase the risk of injury in a crash. Proper installation significantly reduces the chance of serious harm to children in motor vehicle accidents.
