Update: Couple in Gwinnett murder suicide identified


Gwinnett county police department have identified the man and woman victims in Saturday’s murder suicide.  The male was Kalvin Wright,48, of Albany, Ga and the female was Gentorica Wright, 33.

(Lawrenceville, Georgia)  The Gwinnett County Police Department is currently investigating an alleged murder suicide that occurred Saturday morning in Gwinnett County. According to a press release from GCPD, shortly after 9:30 a.m. this morning, April 14, 2018, three children were dropped off at the Sugar Mill Apartment complex leasing office in Lawrenceville. The children told staff their father had shot their mother inside their apartment. The male suspect had taken the children to the leasing office before returning to the apartment. The staff called 911 and, due to a possible barricaded gunman situation, the GCPD SWAT team was activated.

“Once SWAT arrived, they made entry into the apartment due to the unknown status of the female victim. After making entry, they located the male suspect and female victim deceased with apparent gunshot wounds,” GCPD reported. At that time the Gwinnett County Homicide Unit took over the investigation.

GCPD report that the two victims were married. The children, all under the age of 10, were in the apartment at the time the female victim was shot. There was no recent history at the address, but the incident is believed to be domestic, police report. The incident is still under investigation. Names of deceased are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

“We are always saddened to learn of incidents such as this, especially when young children are involved,” GCPD wrote in the press release.
