Update: Investigators deem cause of Double Springs Road fire was electrical

Walton County Assistant Fire Chief said in the final analysis, the fire on Double Springs Road over the weekend has been deemed to be the result of an electrical problem.

“There was a wire going to the swimming pool that was attached to the deck that we weren’t aware of,” League said. “The insurance company Investigator found the wire and determined it was the cause of the fire and not the grill as theorized.”

Walton County Fire Rescue Assistant Chief Craig League said that although the Double Springs Road fire is officially listed as an undetermined cause, investigators theorize that the fire started as a result of embers falling from a grill onto a deck attached to the home.
