According to Monroe Mayor John Howard in a Facebook post, the Loganville Middle School Girls Basketball team beat the Carver Wildcats Girls Basketball team, winning the Regional Basketball Championship Saturday. The results flipped in the Boys Championship with Carver Middle School Boys beating LMS to bring that trophy home to Monroe.
The Carver Middle School Wildcats, boys and girls, basketball teams have made it to the Regional Championship, which will take place on Saturday, Feb. 8, at Youth Middle School. Taking them on in the finals will be fellow Walton County School teams from Loganville Middle School, in both the boys and the girls final.
“Girls start at 11:00, boys to follow immediately,” wrote Monroe Mayor John Howard, before throwing out a challenge to Loganville Mayor Rey Martinez by noting, “And… it will be the first time Carver brings the championship hardware back to the #BestSmallTownInAmerica!”
It looks like the friendly rivalry from the annual high football games has moved to the basketball court. May the best teams win. We do know for sure that the trophies will belong to Walton County schools!
