City of Monroe announces that the Splash Pad at the Town Green on East Church Street is back open and will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. throughout the remainder of the season as weather remains favorable. It will, however, be closed on First Friday Concert dates.
Officials with the City of Monroe posted an update on the splash pad closure, announcing that it is expected to remain closed for the next few weeks as they await multiple controls and technician installation.
The Splash Pad controls were damaged due to a lightning strike from the storms that occurred in Monroe on the afternoon of Friday, July 10th and it has remained closed ever since.
The Monroe Splash Pad has been out of commission since Sunday as it also appears to have become a casualty of the weekend storms that blew through the area.
“Our Splash Pad is currently closed due to what appears to be a lightning strike to the controls from storms yesterday afternoon,” Monroe officials posted on Social Media Monday. “Technicians are working to assess the damage and then make repairs as soon as possible.”
Tuesday the splash pad was still not operational. You may want to check to see if the repairs have been completed before heading out to the splash pad over the next couple of days.
