Update: Suspect in custody following execution of arrest warrants on Highway 11

A suspect is in custody after deputies with Walton County Sheriff’s Office served multiple warrants on an armed suspect at a house on Highway 11 in the Monroe area of Walton County on Friday afternoon.

“The armed suspect refused to come outside. Walton County Deputies entered the house with a search warrant where the suspect eventually gave up,” said Maj. Scott Whisnant, public information officer with WCSO. “The brief period of traffic disturbance on Highway 11 is regretted but was necessary for public safety.”

Whisnant said the multiple warrants included fleeing, obstruction, and assault from two agencies. He said additional charges would include possession of stolen property and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
