Update: Suspect in robbery arrested without incident

 Update:
Monroe Police Report that 35 year old Don Johnston was arrested without incident in connection with this robbery at 4:05 p.m. Lt. Tracy Hanson confirmed he was taken into custody at Taco Bell in Monroe.
At about 10:40 on Thursday, Sept. 7, Monroe Police officers responded to an alarm at the SunTrust Bank at 1990 W. Spring Street. The suspect (pictured below) reportedly handed the bank teller a note demanding money before leaving the scene with an undisclosed amount of money.  He is described as a heavily tattooed white male, possibly in his mid-30s to early 40s. The Monroe Police Department and the GBI are currently working on several leads at this time.
Initial Story

Walton County Public Safety Director Keith Glass confirmed that there was a robbery Thursday at SunTrust Bank in Monroe. Schools in Monroe on lockdown as a precaution level 1 lockdown until more information is available.
