Update: Suspect who fled after shoplifting faces slew of charges from Loganville and Gwinnett


Richard Taylor was arrested in this case and is currently incarcerated in Walton County Detention Center charged with: Failure to appear, theft by shoplifting, fleeing to elude, use of drug-related objects, obstruction of officers, no proof of insurance, driving while license suspended, driving with a suspended drivers license, reckless driving, driving on the wrong side of the road, passing on solid yellow lines and speeding.


Officials are reporting that the suspect in a shoplifting incident who fled on foot after a traffic stop has been apprehended by the Walton County Sheriff’s Office. He was located along Highway 20, according to City of Loganville spokesman Robbie Schwartz.

“He will be facing several local charges in addition to having an outstanding warrant from Gwinnett County,” Schwartz said.

The Loganville Police Department is still searching for a shoplifting suspect that fled from a traffic stop, prompting a multi-agency search in Loganville Saturday afternoon, May 18, 2019. According to City of Loganville spokesperson Robbie Schwartz, it began as a shoplifting, but ended up a manhunt after a Loganville police officer stopped a car resulting in the driver fleeing. A chase ensued.

“Walton County and Gwinnett County sheriff’s offices aided in the search but were unsuccessful,” Schwartz said. “LPD official have an ID on the suspect and are currently searching for his whereabouts.”

Schwartz said the shoplifting call came from Walmart and the traffic stop that prompted the foot chase was on Highway 20 in Loganville near Reliant Homes.
