Update:
The victim in this case has been identified as Corey Detiege, 33, Sugar Land, Texas. Houston newspapers are reporting that Detiege is a Houston Rapper who goes by the name Chucky Trill. The motive for this case is still unknown.
Initial Story
(Norcross, Ga., March 5, 2021) – The Gwinnett County Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred in the early morning hours of March 5, 2021 on I-85 south near Jimmy Carter Blvd. The emergency call reporting a shooting on the interstate came in just before 3 a.m. and police arrived to find a stopped vehicle with one male victim.
The victim had been shot at least one time and died at a local hospital. Detectives arrive on scene to begin the investigation. There is currently no description of the suspect vehicle but investigators believe there may be witnesses to either the shooting or an event leading up to the incident. They are asking anyone with information to please come forward and contact the police department. The motive for this shooting is still under investigation.
The identity of the victim is currently being withheld pending notification to his next of kin.
