Update: Victim identified in medical emergency wreck in Walton County Wednesday


Georgia State Patrol has identified the victim in the incident on Highway 81 at Shiloh Drive on Wednesday as Richard Steve Beltz  age: 51, from Lilburn. 


According to officials, the victim in the single-vehicle accident on Highway 81 at Shiloh Drive on Wednesday did not survive the medical emergency that caused the accident.

Trooper FC Sgt. James Buchanan with Georgia State Patrol reported that the victim suffered a heart attack that caused the vehicle to veer off the road and hit a tree.

“The accident was not sufficient to cause fatal injuries. It was the heart attack, so it would not be considered a fatal wreck,” Buchanan said.

The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Walton County Public Safety officials report that a single-vehicle accident on Highway 81 at Shiloh Drive shut down the road for a period of time on Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 6, 2019. Walton County Sheriff’s Office reported that it was a serious accident. Walton County Fire Rescue Assist. Chief Craig League said that one patient was transported to Piedmont Walton by EMS.

“At this time it appears that the accident was related to a medical issue by the driver of the vehicle that wrecked,” League said.

The road is now open. League said he has no other information at this time. We are awaiting details from Georgia State Patrol that reportedly worked the accident.
