Update: Georgia State Patrol identified the victim as Nellie Marie Hart, 68, of Monroe. Her next of kin have been notified.
Update: Georgia State Patrol advise that the single vehicle crash that shut down Highway 138 on Thursday night resulted in a fatality. The driver was transported to Piedmont Walton where she succumbed to her injuries.
According to GSP Post 46 Commander SFC Richard Thacker, at about 6:56 p.m., the Walton County Sheriff’s Office requested GSP to investigate the crash on Georgia 138 near Nunnally Farm Road.
“TFC James responded to the scene and his investigation revealed the following: A white Jeep Compass was traveling east on Georgia 138 when it left the roadway onto the north shoulder striking a tree. The driver was transported to the Piedmont Walton Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries,” Thacker said. “The female driver was age 68 from Monroe, Georgia.”
WALTON COUNTY, GA (Oct. 3, 2024) – Walton County Fire Rescue Assistant Chief Craig League reported that crews are on the scene of a single vehicle crash vs a tree on Highway 138 near Nunnally Farm Road.
“One patient with critical injuries reported,” League said.
Walton County Sheriff’s Office reported that Highway 138 is shut down near H.D. Atha Road.
