Monroe Police Department reports that a woman has been charged in connection with an incident that required a baby to be life-flighted to Children’s HealthCare of Atlanta at Egleston on Tuesday afternoon.
In a press release, MPD report that at about 3 p.m. on March 23, 2021, officers responded to a home 4th street to investigate a case of possible child abuse. The victim was taken to Piedmont Walton by ambulance and later flown to CHOA. During the investigation, MPD Criminal Investigation Division allegedly found probable cause to charge Kellista Shuree Cox with cruelty to children in the 1st degree and aggravated battery. Detectives continue to actively investigate the incident. Cox is currently being held at Walton County Detention Center charged with the cruelty to children and aggravated battery charges as well as marijuana possession less than 1 oz, possession, use of drug related objects and possession/manufacture of controlled substance.

A baby was reportedly life-flighted from Monroe to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston Tuesday afternoon, March 23, 2021. Monroe Police Chief R.V. Watts confirmed that a baby had been transported to Egleston and that the department is now actively working a child abuse case.
