Update: Wreck on Hwy 78 on Wednesday sends 3 people to area hospitals

Update

Georgia State Patrol reports that a wreck at the intersection of Highway 78 and New Hope Church Road on Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 23, 2019, sent three people to area hospitals.

“A vehicle traveling East on Hwy 78 was attempting to turn left onto New Hope Church Road and thought they had enough room to do so with an approaching vehicle. The vehicle turned left into the path of the other vehicle and was struck in the passenger door. The occupants of all vehicles were transported to different hospitals in Walton and Gwinnett,” said Sgt. First Class James Buchanan with GSP. “Driver of the at-fault vehicle was a juvenile driver.”

Buchanan said none of the injuries was life-threatening.

Initial Story

Walton County Sheriff’s Office advised motorists at 5:35 p.m. that Highway 78 at New Hope Church Road is closed due to a two-vehicle accident with injuries. Expect delays due to traffic build up.
