The Partnership for Community Action, Inc shared with stakeholders in DeKalb, Gwinnett, Newton, Rockdale, and Walton counties important updates about the upcoming 2025-2026 LIHEAP season, including changes to the application process and appointment scheduling.
Relevant information followw:
Appointments Only – No Walk-Ins
- LIHEAP services will be provided by appointment only. Walk-ins will not be accepted at any PCA location.
- An appointment is required for all LIHEAP applications. Applications submitted without a scheduled appointment cannot be processed and will be denied.
- Sites will not open on January 2. That date is strictly for appointment scheduling
PCA Appointment Opening Dates
- January 2, 2026: Appointments for senior households (age 65 and older) and medically homebound households.
- February 2, 2026: Appointments open for the general public.
- Please note that timelines may vary across Georgia based on local capacity and funding flow.
How the Appointment Process Works
LIHEAP applications are now completed using a new state online system.
If you choose to complete your appointment on your own:
- You will first register with PCA.
- After registration, you will need to complete a separate state registration.
- Once completed, you will need to submit your LIHEAP application through the state system and upload the required documents.
If you come in person for your appointment:
- PCA staff will complete the application for you during your scheduled appointment.
- This new system allows applicants to submit their benefit applications independently, while still requiring an appointment with PCA
