The Veterans Day recognitions began Thursday in Loganville and continued through much of the weekend. At the City Council meeting on Thursday, the City recognized WWII Veteran Roger Botkin, and the mayor proclaimed Nov. 9, 2019, Poppy Day in Loganville. On Friday, Linda Kinnersley from Southern Plantation helped organize a luncheon for veterans and the American Legion had its annual dinner that evening. The annual Veteran’s Day Ceremony that usually takes place at the old Loganville City Hall was taken inside and held at the American Legion Post 233 due to the weather. This year, the 100th year of the Armistice that ended WWI was recognized as well as the 99th birthday of the American Legion. Loganville Mayor Rey Martinez, a veteran himself, was front and center at all of these ceremonies.
We wish a Happy Veterans Day to our veterans of all wars. Thank you for your service. We will never forget.
