Walnut Grove Lady Warriors softball players will be honoring local Hometown Heroes on 9/11 at WGHS Softball Field. Special recognition of First Responders including Fire, Police, and EMS will take place at 5:30, prior to the start of the Varsity game against Clarke Central. In addition, the Walnut Grove LadyWarriors will be holding a 50/50 raffle at the game. All proceeds from the raffle will go to Covington Police Officer Matt Cooper and his family. Cooper is at Grady Memorial Hospital struggling to recover after being shot on Monday while chasing a shoplifting suspect from the Walmart in Covington. Tickets will be on sale during the Walnut Grove game for $5 each.

The team is expecting many other special guests to attend the game, including local city and county leaders. Hospitality for our special guests and honorees provided by Acopia Home Loans.
T-shirts sponsored by Shane’s Rib Shack in Monroe. First responders are admitted free with ID, and the first 20 to arrive receive a free t-shirt.
