Chief Kevin Haney Assumes the Role as Fire Chief
Monroe, GA – February 6, 2019-Walton County Board of Commissioners announced the appointment of Kevin Haney to the role of Fire Chief for Walton County Fire Rescue. Walton County Commission Chairman Kevin Little administered the Oath of Office at the Feb. 5, 2019, Board of Commission meeting.
Former Chief Mike Moore announced toward the end of 2018 that he was ready to retire and Haney was named incoming chief at a retirement celebration for Moore.
Haney joined Walton County Fire Rescue in August of 1993 and worked his way through the ranks from a firefighter to assistant chief. With this announcement, Haney takes the helm as the head of Walton County Fire Rescue.
Kevin Little, Chairman of the Walton County Board of Commissioners, stated “We are thrilled to make this announcement. Chief Haney’s experience and knowledge of the operations of Walton County Fire Rescue make him perfect for the role. We look forward to seeing all he has to offer.”
Chief Haney has served the entirety of his twenty-five (25) year career with Walton County and looks forward to serving the citizens of Walton County in his new role. Haney stated “I am excited to serve as Chief of Walton County Fire Rescue. My goal is to continue to offer the best services possible by utilizing the best equipment available and ensuring that we have a well-trained staff in every position. My hope is to continue to lower the ISO rating for the county as well.”
Haney attended Loganville High School and earned all the certifications of an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). He continues to further his education and fire training at the University of Georgia. We are pleased to have Chief Kevin Haney serve in this capacity and look forward to his future success with Walton County Fire Rescue.
