WCSO precinct in Good Hope on Walton County BOC October agenda

The October meeting of the Walton County Board of Commissioners meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 1, at the Historic Courthouse on S. Broad Street in Monroe. Items under consideration include a Walton County Sheriff’s Office precinct to be located in Good Hope. Walton County Sheriff Joe Chapman said this would be the third precinct that WCSO has opened in the county since he’s been the Sheriff. He said it is being opened for the convenience of local residents.

“We have one in West Walton and one in Walnut Grove and now this one will be in Good Hope,” Chapman said. “It is just to be able to offer a better service to the residents in that area – to give them a closer place to go if they are in need of any service they require from law enforcement.”

Chapman said the good thing is, it will not really cost taxpayers any money. There is already a building at the City Park that will require some sewer and plumbing work, but the funding being used will be using impact fees and maybe confiscated funds.
