Anna Blount has given back to the community of Walton County in a big way for most of her life. As the founder and CEO of Team Up Mentoring, local youth have been the most to benefit from her compassion and dedication to making sure that the most vulnerable children in our community get the help they need to succeed.

But right now she is need of support from the community herself. According to Amy Hunnewell, Team up Mentoring chief strategy and innovation officer, now is the time to return the favor.

“My dear friend and boss lady Anna Blount needs our community right now,” she said. “After weeks of serious illness, she’s been hospitalized, treated for sepsis, and now facing the very real possibility of ovarian cancer. We are praying for a miracle as her doctors work towards a major surgery that will hopefully take place before the end of the year.”

Hunnewell said that because of a gap in medical insurance, “every part of her care so far – and everything ahead – is completely out of pocket. The bills have already begun adding up. Anna has spent nearly two decades pouring herself into the kids and families in Monroe, Walton County and the surrounding area. Her faith, her calling, and her love for this community has changed so many lives, including my own. Now it’s our turn to show up for her.”

A GoFundMe has been set to help in any way you can. If you were able to support or share, it would mean more than you know.

About Anna Blout from Bio: In 2006, Anna Blount completed her degree from the University of Georgia in Biological Science and while volunteering in the city of Monroe, GA with a church ministry. She had planned to attend veterinary school, but during her junior year of college, Anna recognized her own passion for working with youth through church volunteer work. More specifically, Anna had a soft spot for the children who seemed the most vulnerable and in need of the most care. She felt called to serve these children and recognized that in order to help these children succeed, they would need more than just one person helping them– they would need a team– thus Team Up Mentoring began. Over ten years later, Anna continues to dream, research and contemplate ways to best serve the vulnerable children and their families. She not only manages day-to-day operations of the organization and the staff, but also oversees all medical services for children in the program. From making school lunches, to strategic planning meetings and everything in between, Anna lives out Team Up’s mantra of “Doing whatever it takes to help a child succeed.”
