The Walton County Sheriff’s Office is collaborating with local churches for the National Faith and Blue weekend that will take place the weekend of Oct. 9 – 12, 2020.
National Faith and Blue weekend was designated as a collaborative effort between law enforcement professionals and the local houses of worship. The idea behind this initiative is that communities are stronger and safer when residents and law enforcement can come together with shared values, hopes, and dreams.
“We understand this weekend is coming up very fast but with the current circumstances, we wanted to engage in something that would be beneficial for the community and keep those involved as safe as possible. Therefore, with this being the first year of Faith and Blue and the current restrictions, we would like to do something small that will also help in a big way,” WCSO wrote on its Facebook page.
For this first annual Faith and Blue event WCSO will be holding a canned and non-perishable food drive with several local houses of worship as well as joining with Georgia State Patrol to hold a Child Car Seat Check.
“We are going to collect these items on October 11th from 1:00pm-3:00pm. The items will be donated to children and families in need within our community. This will also be the time for you to come and get your child’s car seat checked to make sure it is installed properly.
The event with be held in the parking lot at the Walton County Sheriff’s Office at 1425 S. Madison Ave., Monroe, GA 30655.
