Mark your calendars for a special day next month for a special group of athletes. The Walton County Special Olympics Local Games take place on April 14, 2017 at the Monroe Area High School.

“We try to get started by 9 a.m. We start as soon as the last bus arrives,” said long-time organizer Janice Tribble. “This is a very exciting day for our kids. They participate in games, win ribbons and the parade around the track is exciting and somewhat emotional.”
Lunch is served to the children and their parents.
“Last year we packed and handed out 600 lunches. This is a great day for our kids,” Janice said. “If you are not volunteering, please come out and be a fan in the stand.”
