Warrants issued for two suspects following vehicle chase through Walton County

Officials say deputy was almost run over by fleeing vehicle

WALTON COUNTY, GA (April, 16, 2026) – A vehicle chase through Walton County Tuesday has resulted in multiple warrants being taken on the two suspects involved.

According to Major Scott Whisnant, public information officer for Walton County Sheriff’s Office, the incident begin when a Walton County Sheriff’s Deputy conducted a traffic stop on a truck pulling a trailer in the Youth Community area.

“As the Deputy attempted to arrest the passenger for narcotics charges, a fight ensued behind the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle fled, almost running over the Deputy. The passenger was able to climb back onto the vehicle,” Whisnant said. “After one of several Precision Intervention Techniques were performed, the passenger fled on foot from the vehicle. After a lengthy chase the vehicle and driver escaped into Gwinnett County when the deputies vehicle became disabled.”

Whisnant said multiple arrest warrants have been issued for the driver and passenger. They are identified as driver Zoro Vazquez Rodriguez, and passenger Austin Mitchell Fanin, both residents of Gwinnett County.
