WCSO Alerts: Residents are warned of numerous incidents of catalytic converters being stolen off vehicles

Walton County Sheriff’s Office is warning local residents of numerous reports of catalytic converters being stolen off vehicles in and around the county. You are urged to be mindful of where you are park. Try to park in areas that are well lit. Patrols have been stepped up throughout the county at businesses, churches, and neighborhoods.

The WCSO reported the following Crime Awareness Community Alerts for Monday, Feb. 22, 2021. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

Monday, Feb. 22, 2021

ZONE 4

Arrest– A 50 year-old Warner Robins resident was arrested at Zion Prospect Church for Possession of Methamphetamine following a suspicious vehicle report.

ZONE 5

Arrest– A 43-year-old Loganville resident was arrested at the Barrow County line on Highway 81 on an outstanding warrant out of Walton County following an agency transfer.

Arrest­- A 55-year-old Loganville man was arrested at a residence on Bullock Lane for Family Violence Battery following a dispute.

ZONE 6

Theft– While patrolling the area of Hope Community Church on Bailey Circle, a deputy found a Church Van had been tampered with around 4:50am. Upon further investigating, the deputy found the catalytic converter had been sawed off of the vehicle. A church staff member was notified, the report was taken, and the area was checked.

Theft– While patrolling the area of New Horizon Recovery Center on Highway 20, a deputy found a Business Van had been tampered with around 4:00am. Upon further investigating, the deputy found the catalytic converter was missing from the vehicle. Deputies documented the information and they thoroughly checked the area.
