WCSO Alerts: Several incidents of identity and mail theft investigated

The Walton County Sheriff’s Office reported the following Community Alerts for Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2017. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2017

ZONE 1

Fraud- Deputies took a report at a residence on Alcovy Station Road in reference to an unknown individual contacting complaint via text message claiming to be with an online plumbing company and requesting money from the complainant.

Fraud- Deputies took a report at a residence on  Hightower Trail in reference to an unknown individual using complainant’s information to make transactions out of their bank account.

ZONE 2

Nothing Reported.

ZONE 3

Arrest- Donavon Stevens was arrested at a business in the area of Highway 78 for an outstanding warrant out of Walton County for Failure to Appear.

Damage to Property- Deputies took a report at a residence on Lavista Drive in reference to an unknown individual damaging complainant’s vehicle.

Fraud- Deputies took a report at a residence on Old Monroe Madison Highway in reference to an unknown individual using complainant’s information to make transactions out of their bank account.

ZONE 4

Entering Auto- Deputies took a report at a residence on Mountain Creek Church Road in reference to an unknown individual entering complainant’s vehicle and taking several items.

ZONE 5

Extra Patrol- Extra patrol was requested in the area of Saint Martin Way in reference to an unknown individual taking mail out of several mailboxes in the area.

Theft- Deputies took a report at a business on Ozora Church Road in reference to an unknown individual taking motorist tag off their vehicle.

Suspicious Vehicle- Deputies responded to the area of Greyfield Way in reference to an unknown motorist in a white Dodge passenger vehicle possibly taking mail out of mailboxes in the area. Deputies thoroughly checked the area, but had no contact with the vehicle.

ZONE 6

Scam- Deputies took a report at a residence on Crestwood Trail in reference to an unknown individual contacting complainant via phone advising that the complainant’s grandchild was in jail and they need to transfer $7,500 to the callers account for them to be released.

ZONE 7

Arrest- Shinelle Joseph was arrested in the area of Centerhill Church Road and Guthrie Road for Driving While License Suspended and an outstanding warrant out of Crisp County following a two vehicle accident with non-life threatening injuries.

Suspicious Person- Deputies responded to the area of Leone Avenue in reference to an unknown individual in a red hoodie walking around the church after hours. Deputies thoroughly checked the area, but no contact with the individual.

Arrest- Richard Tumlin was arrested in the area of Broadnax Mill Road and Thompson Mill Road for Open Container and Possession of Marijuana Less Than One Ounce following a traffic stop.
