WCSO Alerts: Traffic stops net several drug arrests

The Walton County Sheriff’s Office reported the following Community Reports for the Sunday, Feb. 12 and Monday, Feb. 13, 2017. Please note a charge or arrest does not constitute a conviction.

ZONE 1

Extra Patrol- Extra patrol was requested in the area of Maughon Road in reference to complainant witnessing an unknown individual firing shots at a road sign.

Arrest- Casey Cox was arrested at a residence in the area of Twin Pines Road for an outstanding Probation Violation warrant out of Walton County following a dispute.

Arrest- Steven Merritt and Kevin Cote were arrested in the area of Cannon Farm Road following a traffic stop.

• Steven Merritt was arrested for Driving Under the Influence, Possession of Schedule II Drugs, Possession of Schedule IV Drugs, Possession of Marijuana Less Than One Ounce and Possession of Drug Related Objects.
• Kevin Cote was arrested for an outstanding warrant out of Newton County, Possession of Schedule II Drugs, Possession of Schedule IV Drugs, Possession of Marijuana Less Than One Ounce and Possession of Drug Related Objects.

Vehicle Accident- Deputies responded to a two vehicle accident in the area of Jersey Covington Road. No injuries. Walton County Sheriff’s Office handled the scene of the accident.

Arrest- Kimberly Roark was arrested in the area of Highway 138 and Youth Jersey Road for Obstruction of an Officer, Giving False Information and an outstanding Probation Violation warrant out of Walton County following a traffic stop.

Arrest- Benny Parker and Madison Tyler were arrested in the area of Cannon Farm Road following a traffic stop.

• Benny Parker was arrested for Driving with No Insurance, Driving While License Suspended, Giving False Information, Possession of Methamphetamine, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Possession of Marijuana Less Than One Ounce and Possession of Drug Related Objects.
• Madison Tyler was arrested for Possession of Marijuana Less Than One Ounce and Possession of Drug Related Objects.

ZONE 2

Nothing to Report.

ZONE 3

Vehicle Accident- Deputies responded to a single vehicle accident in the area of Highway 83 and Queens Cemetery Road. No injuries reported. Walton County Sheriff’s Office handled the scene of the accident.

Safety Check – Walton County deputies conducted a safety check on Jim Daws Road and Harry Arnold Road. Deputies checked for the required driving criteria:  valid driver’s license, vehicle registration and insurance. No arrests or citations in reference to this Safety Check.

ZONE 4

Theft- Deputies responded to a residence in the area of Mountain Creek Church Road in reference to an unknown individual taking items from complainants residence unlawfully.

Traffic Stop- One motorist cited in the area of Walton Road and John Deere Road for Driving on a Permit Without Licensed Driver following a traffic stop. Motorist released to licensed driver.

Littering- Deputies responded to the area of Waverly Way to take a report of an unknown motorist in a maroon SUV dumping large items in the cul-de-sac. Extra patrol requested in reference to the incident.

ZONE 5

Arrest- Barry Irvin was arrested in the area of Highway 11 for Possession of Schedule II Drugs following a traffic stop.

Vehicle Accident- Deputies responded to a single vehicle fatality in the area of Bold Spring Road. Motorist was transported to the hospital where they were then pronounced deceased due to the injuries they sustained. Georgia State Patrol and Walton County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division handled the scene of the accident.

Safety Check – Walton County deputies conducted a safety check on Bay Creek Church Road and Zion Cemetery Road. Deputies checked for the required driving criteria:  valid driver’s license, vehicle registration and insurance. No arrests or citations in reference to this Safety Check.

Burglary- Deputies responded to a residence in the area of Roscoe Davis Road to take a report of an unknown individual taking several items taken from the residence unlawfully.

Vehicle Accident- Deputies responded to a single vehicle accident in the area of Bold Springs Road. No injuries reported. Georgia State Patrol handled the scene of the accident.

ZONE 6

Trespassing- Deputies responded to a residence in the area of Highway 81 in reference to unknown individuals trespassing on the property. Deputies made contact with two individuals and both were issued criminal trespass warnings.

Vehicle Accident- Deputies responded to a two vehicle accident in the area of Windermere Drive in Hidden Creek Subdivision. No injuries. Walton County Sheriff’s Office handled the scene of the accident.

Traffic Stop- One motorist cited in the area of Highway 78 for Driving While License Suspended following a traffic stop.

ZONE 7

Suspicious Person- Deputies responded to the area of Greenfield Lane in reference to two males in the area checking meters at various residences in the area. Deputies thoroughly checked the area, but had no contact with anyone. Everything appeared to be okay.
