Walton County Sheriff’s Office continues to seek help from the public in solving a 2004 homicide currently being investigate by its Cold Case Unit.
According to a post on the Walton County Sheriff’s Office’s Facebook page, the body of a newborn baby was found in the early morning hours of Sunday, April 18, 2004 near the intersection of Rockmore and Old Cemetery Road in the unincorporated Loganville area of Walton County. The body appeared to be that of a full-term, probably white, male infant. WCSO report that the race was not conclusively established. The placenta was found nearby in a torn biohazard bag. Witnesses told detectives that the bag had been visible on the side of the road since Friday (April 16, 2004). It was determined to be a homicide when the state crime lab autopsy reveal that the infant had been crushed by an automobile.
Despite the investigation, the case went cold and was revived by the WCSO Cold Case Unit. A few leads did come in when it aired about 18 months ago, but nothing panned out.
