No accumulation expected, but flurries and black ice possible Christmas Eve into Christmas morning
The National Weather Service has issued a special Weather Statement for the local area for extreme weather conditions overnight until 2.45 a.m. on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, 2020.
Atlanta – GA, US, National Weather Service
…Snow Flurries and Black Ice Possible… A storm system will move into the area tonight into Christmas Eve. Initially, it will bring heavy showers with embedded thunderstorms with a small threat of strong winds. On the backside of this system Thursday evening, we could see some snow flurries flying across the area before ending early Christmas Eve night. With the precipitation moving out so quickly, no accumulations are anticipated with these snow flurries. In addition to the flurries, cold air rushing in could allow for some black ice to develop even after the precipitation has ended. Winds will help dry things out but patches of black ice will be possible well into Christmas Eve night and linger into Christmas morning so caution is advised on area roads.
