Willow Drive and East Hightower Trail at Vine Circle in Social Circle temporarily closed
Update
Walton County and city officials are reporting that there are multiple trees and power lines down due to the storm. Social Circle Fire Chief Ken Zaydel reports that fire crews are out on Willow Drive and East Hightower Trail at Vine Circle with down power lines. Both roads are temporarily closed until power company arrives. Walton County Assistant Fire Chief said there are multiple trees down in Monroe as well, including several on North Broad, and one on East Spring near Felker.

“The power pole is down on Waverly Way in Green Acres off Hwy 11. Understandably there are multiple trees and power lines down across the county. Use caution when driving especially around areas where visibility is low or you are unfamiliar with. First responders are responding to the known locations so let’s work together and not create more emergencies,” Walton County, Ga. Sheriff’s Office wrote on its Facebook page.

The National Weather Service has issued a second Weather Alert. The following is a Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued by the National Weather Service. Please be alert – local officials are warning of multiple trees down in Monroe and in Social Circle.

At 647 PM EDT, a strong thunderstorm was over Social Circle, or 8
miles east of Covington, moving west at 15 mph.

ground lightning.
