The National Weather Service issued a Wind Advisory from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 1, 2018 for several counties in southern Metro Atlanta and Southern Georgia, including Walton County.
Sustained winds of up to 20 mph are expected with gusts up to 35 mph. Unsecured items and tree limbs and trees could be blown down, possibly resulting in a few power outages. Driving could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles,
In addition, a Significant Weather Advisory was issued for several counties, including Walton, Rockdale, northern Newton, Barrow and Gwinnett Counties until 12:45 pm as strong storms approach. There is a possibility of rotation, enhancing the possibility of a brief tornado forming. Cities in the line of the storm include Winder, Monroe and Covington. Winds up to 50 mph are expected.
