The National Weather Service has issued a high fire danger alert for this afternoon, April 27, 2020, until 7 p.m. this evening for parts of central and north Georgia, including Walton Gwinnett and surrounding areas.
RELATIVE HUMIDITIES OF 25 PERCENT OR LESS CAN BE EXPECTED FOR 4 OR MORE HOURS THIS AFTERNOON INTO THE EVENING. WINDS WILL BE NW AT 5 TO 15 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 20 MPH. WITH DRY FUELS, HIGH FIRE DANGER CONDITIONS CAN BE EXPECTED. PLEASE REFER TO YOUR LOCAL BURN PERMITTING AUTHORITIES WHETHER YOU MAY BURN OUTDOORS. IF YOU DO BURN OUTSIDE, USE EXTREME CAUTION.
There also is a High Pollen alert – after all, it is still spring. The count is 101, which really doesn’t seem like much compared to the 1000s that we do get into sometimes, but it is enough to be bothersome for those who feel it most. The reading is very high for grass pollen and high for tree pollen.
