Weather forecasters flirting with the S word for early December

It is almost two weeks off, and as we know anything can change in a few short hours in Georgia, but for the first time this season forecasters are flirting with the “S” word for the local area, well at least for Loganville.

According to, with a high of 46 degrees and a low of 31 degrees, there is a possibility (just a 30 percent chance) of rain/snow showers on Dec. 10, 2018, in Loganville. Steve Brueck of North Georgia Weather, says there is a slight possibility for maybe even earlier at least somewhere in Georgia for Dec. 6, but he cautions that even that is far off at this stage of the game.

“It looks like around the 6th we ‘may’ have a possibility for some winter weather across the northern part of the north Georgia area. Still too soon to know if it will or if it won’t though. As you might remember, December 8-9 last year was a record snow for many here in Georgia,” Brueck said, go on to caution against really taking seriously any of these predictions that far out though. ” “Other than slim chances, nothing really to get excited about yet. Even seven days is a stretch for anything specific.”

In the meantime, the good news is that this really cold snap is probably going to break soon and at least the temperatures are not expected to be so frigid after tonight. I don’t know about anybody else, but I’m still looking for that true White Christmas in Walton County. Who knows, maybe 2018 is our year. We can always dream, can’t we.
