The 2025 election came to a close in Loganville late Tuesday night with Councilman Branden Whitfield the mayor elect, Councilwoman Melanie Long returned to her seat on the city council and candidates Keith Colquitt and Wes Johnson now councilmen elect. All the winners will be sworn in in January to take their seats on the council.
The following are the unofficial results of the election.
For Mayor
John R. Soesbe 798 – 46.37 %
Branden Whitfield. 923 – 53.63 %
The top three vote-getters for Loganville City Council were Melanie Long, Keith Colquitt and Wes Johnson.
The unofficial results were:
Joseph “Joey” Bastian 613 – 13.66 %
Joanne Byrne 558 – 12.44 %. (Not counted in results)
Keith Colquitt. 799 – 17.81 %
Wes Johnson 934 – 20.82 %
Melanie Long 944 – 21.04%
Toyin Wakil Olaoluwa 638 – 14.22 %
Joanne Byrne had withdrawn her candidacy prior to the day voting began and although she received 558 votes, they were not officially counted and did not factor into the results.
The voters approved the Homestead Exemption for the City of Loganville. Results were
Yes 1,414. – 81.73 %
No. 316 – 18.27 %
A total of 1,771 votes were cast out of 10,474 registered voters in the City of Loganville. These results are unofficial.
The 1% Educational Sales and Use Tax for Walton County also was approved.
The Results were:
Yes 7,384 – 54.41 %
No 6,187 – 46.59 %
