Updated Monday, Feb. 2
The National Weatjer Service at Peachtree City has issued a Special Weather Statement for many areas in the local area, including Walton, Gwinnett and surrounding counties for the possibility for patchy black ice until 9 a.m. this morning.
“Any snow that has melted or remains on roadways will refreeze as temperatures will drop into the teens to 20s across much of eastern Georgia by early Monday morning. Thus, patchy to widespread black ice can be expected especially in areas that received higher snowfall accumulations over the weekend. Exercise caution during your morning commute especially along bridges, overpasses and any untreated roadways. Additionally, be mindful while walking on sidewalks, driveways and parking lots. Temperatures will rise above freezing by Monday afternoon which will help the melting process.”
