With COVID-19 positive numbers rising in Walton County, libraries revert to curbside service only

In light of the rising COVID-19 positive numbers locally the Trustees of the Azalea Regional Library System announced Monday that local libraries will revert to curbside service only. The AZRLS library system includes libraries in Greene, Hancock, Jasper, Morgan, Putnam, and Walton counties.

The Trustees sent the following advisory to local libraries systems.

“In order to provide the highest level of safety and care for library staff and visitors, effective today all AZRLS member libraries will offer curbside service exclusively. In an effort to limit staff exposure to the general public, computer appointments will be considered on a case by case basis in order to assist only those with the most urgent needs.”

The system will continue to monitor the situation throughout the region and adjust service offerings once the current health crisis abates. The current positive rate for Walton County on Jan. 3, 2020 had 31.9 % of those tested return positive results.
