Woman shot, man charged with aggravated assault

Monroe Police Department reports that a woman received a non-life-threatening gunshot wound on Thursday afternoon at a residence on Sorrells Street in Monroe. Police were called to 207-B Sorrells Street at about 5 p.m. on March 15, 2018 and arrived to find a woman with a gunshot wound to the head.

“Detectives arrived on scene and conducted an investigation which led to the identification of the suspect, 25-year-old Martavius Boatwright, who was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault and Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon,” MPD reported on its Facebook page.

Boatwright remains in Walton County Detention Center without bond.
