
MONROE, GA (Oct. 8, 2026) Due to the impending inclement weather due to the impending inclement weather. Hurricane Isaias has now officially been named as the first hurricane of the season and it is fast approaching the Gulf coast. Although its potential landfall location has not yet been identified, the high winds and heavy rainfall the follow are likely to have an impact on the local area.
“It is with great disappointment that we announce the cancellation of Monroe Fall Fest, scheduled for Saturday, October 10, due to the impending inclement weather forecast,” Sandy Daniels, Main Street and events coordinator for the City of Monroe announced. “After careful consideration, we feel this decision is in the best interest of the safety and well-being of our participants, vendors, volunteers, and visitors.”
Daniels said that unfortunately, due to the City of Monroe’s already full calendar of upcoming events, the Fall Fest will not be rescheduled this year.
“We sincerely appreciate your enthusiasm, preparation, and commitment to making Monroe Fall Fest such a special event for our community. We understand the inconvenience this cancellation may cause and thank you for your understanding,” Daniels said, adding that should anybody have any questions or concerns they can contact her.
In the meantime, a High Wind and a Flood alert have been issued by the National Weather Service at Peachtree City for much of Georgia, including Walton, Gwinnett and the surrounding area, beginning late Friday and continuing through Sunday morning. The City of Monroe was specifically included in the areas of concern.
Local emergency management officials are already meeting and making contingency plans should additional services be required due to potential issues related to severe weather over the weekend.
