Barrett-Davis-Watson American Legion Post 233 in Loganville and its Women’s Auxiliary worked together last week to host a “Thank you” dinner for local first responders. Between 6 – 8:30 p.m. on Friday, first responders from local law enforcement agencies filed into Post 233 for dinner. Patriotic music played quietly in the background and door prizes were presented during the course of the evening.
“This was a way to thank the first responders. They do so much for all of us – not just the American Legion and Auxiliary, but the community in total.” said Anitia Owens, Post 233 member and president of the American Legion Auxiliary of Georgia. “So we wanted to give back to them and thank them for everything they’ve done. Normally it is done in September, somewhere around Sept. 11, but usually at that time they’ve got so much going on. So we wanted to do it now as a surprise. It was to thank those who are here to serve and protect us.”
