WALTON COUNTY, GA (Dec. 11, 2024) – Walton County Fire Rescue Assistant Chief Craig League reported that all lanes of Highway 81 N were blocked near Double Springs Road for a short time around 9 a.m. this morning due to a downed tree across the roadway that impacted power lines.
The power company responded and just after 9:30 a.m. the roadway was back open. League said it was possible that more trees could come down today due to current weather conditions.
“With the ground saturated and high winds, more trees will probably fall,” League said.
Highway 81 S remained shut down due to the earlier tractor trailer rollover crash.
