Dance Fitness fundraiser for WGHS student battling cancer dubbed a success

Kristen Henshaw, of Fitness Kula, LLC, who spearheaded a Dance Fitness fundraiser last week for Walton Grove High School graduate McKenzi Middlebrooks battling cancer, said the event was a huge success.

“We had about 50-60 people there, I think. It was pretty packed and everyone was very generous,” Henshaw said. “McKenzie and her mom were able to come for a while also.”

There were instructors from three different “dance fitness” formats – Zumba, Hip Hop, and Bailango as well as raffle prizes.

Henshaw said McKenzi had surgery on Monday.

“Brave girl, at the event on Saturday, then had surgery Monday.  She is the very definition of STRONG,” Henshaw said. “McKenzi and her family are absolutely humble and incredibly brave people.”

McKenzi is battling ovarian cancer. She made national news recently when she shaved her head before another round of chemotherapy You can follow her battle at McKenzi’s Fight on Facebook. If you want to donate to help the family as they take on this battle, you can mail it directly to McKenzi at Po Box 2899 Covington,GA 30015.
