FBI operation in Loganville early Tuesday ended with suspect in custody

LOGANVILLE, GA (June 30, 2026) – Residents of Loganville’s Logan Point subdivision saw a heavy law enforcement presence earlier today as the FBI conducted a federal operation in the neighborhood.

According to Loganville Police Chief Dick Lowry, the Loganville Police Department was not directly involved in the operation, although the department was kept informed by federal authorities.

Lowry said no shots were fired despite multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire. The loud noises heard during the operation were the result of concussion grenades used by the FBI.

A press release by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department confirmed that Marques Fleming, 25, was wanted in connection with a shooting Sunday that sent two victims to a Charlotte-area hospital, one with apparent life-threatening injuries. FBI agents tracked him to the Loganville neighborhood where concussion grenades were used during the arrest.

CMPD reports that the department was conducting an Assault with a Deadly Weapon With Intent to Kill or Inflict Serious Injury investigation when Fleming was identified as an alleged suspect.”On Sunday, June 28, at approximately 9:30 a.m., officers responded to an Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Injury call for service in the 900 block of Wabash Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered two victims who had sustained apparent gunshot wounds. MEDIC transported both victims to local hospitals, one victim with apparent non-life-threatening injuries and one victim with apparent life-threatening injuries.”

Warrants were subsequently obtained for his arrest and it was learned that he had fled to Georgia and was possible in the Loganville area.

On Tuesday, June 30, the FBI Atlanta SWAT arrested Fleming in Loganville, Georgia. Lowry confirmed that the suspect was taken into custody without injury to the suspect or federal agents, but referred any further comments to the FBI.

CMPD reported that Fleming would be extradited to Charlotte and transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office. The investigation is active and ongoing.
