(Gwinnett County, Ga., June 2, 2026) – The Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a former financial officer of the Central Gwinnett Veterans Association following an investigation into the alleged misuse of organization funds.
According to a press release from GCSO, the Sheriff’s Office Jail Intelligence Unit arrested William Schultz on May 29, 2026, after receiving information about potential financial improprieties involving the veterans organization. Schultz served as the association’s quartermaster at the time of the alleged offenses, a role responsible for managing finances, paying bills, and making purchases on behalf of the group.
Investigators allege Schultz wrote four checks to himself, describing the transactions as loans, and also took cash from association funds for personal use.
Schultz has been charged with four counts of Theft by Taking, a felony, and one count of Theft by Taking, a misdemeanor.
The investigation remains under the jurisdiction of the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office.
