Georgia Writers Museum welcomes best-selling author, Robert Gwaltney

Filled with lush, vivid descriptions and wild plot twists, Sing Down the Moon follows sixteen-year-old Leontyne Skye on her quest to escape the devastating heritage of her mother on the Georgia barrier island known as Good Hope. Right off, too, Gwaltney teases his readers with the mystery of “Tribulation Day,” and the accident that cost Leontyne the loss of her right hand and a partial loss of memory.

Gwaltney is a graduate of Florida State University. By day he serves as Vice President of Easter Seals North Georgia, a non-profit organization strengthening children and their families at the most critical times in their development. His literary work has appeared in Southbound Magazine, Southern Literary Review, The Blue Mountain Review, and The Dead Mule School of Southern Literature. In 2022, he was the recipient of the Pat Conroy Writer’s Residency. He is the new recipient of the Somerset Award for Literacy and Contemporary Fiction. Gwaltney is also a contributing writer for Well Read Magazine and podcast host of “Inside Voices.” His debut novel, The Cicada Tree, won the 2023 Georgia Author of the Year Award for First Novel.
