Gwinnett begins its monthlong celebration of America 250 on July 4th

As Walton County wraps up its celebration of America’s 250 celebration, Gwinnett County begins its monthlong celebration.

Gwinnett County is inviting residents to celebrate America’s 250th birthday with a month-long tribute to the nation’s history, heritage, and the people who continue to shape its future.

From July 4 through August 2, the county’s “Realizing America’s Vision: Celebrating 250 Years” initiative will honor the ideals of the Declaration of Independence while recognizing the diverse communities, families, innovators, public servants, and pioneers who have helped make Gwinnett a thriving part of the American story.

A unique part of the celebration is Gwinnett County’s direct connection to the nation’s founding. The county is named after Button Gwinnett, one of Georgia’s three signers of the Declaration of Independence, whose signature on the historic document forever linked the county to America’s birth.

Residents are encouraged to participate in a community photo challenge, visit interactive “Realizing America’s Vision”display tables, and join the festivities at events across the county, including Red, White, and Boom in Norcross, programs at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center, McDaniel Farm Park, the Gwinnett Environmental and Heritage Center, the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds, Freeman’s Mill Park, and a grand historic celebration at the Gwinnett Historic Courthouse on August 1.

As America marks 250 years of freedom and independence, Gwinnett County is encouraging residents to celebrate the nation’s enduring spirit while reflecting on the shared history that continues to unite communities across generations.
